Choose the right serum for your needs
What is great about serums is that they offer plenty of customization options and targeted results. A serum can therefore be found for every need and goal, whether it is to soothe, refresh, renew or balance the skin.
- If your skin is in need of moisture, choose a serum which contains hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid binds water to help retain moisture which keeps the skin looking smooth and plump.
- If you wish to reduce or prevent signs of aging such as wrinkles it’s best to choose a serum which contains retinols – or bakuchiol, which is a natural source of retinol.
- Oily or acne-prone skin can benefit from hyaluronic acid, AHA or salicylic acid. Sometimes oily skin is lacking its own natural oils (which can be due to using too strong cleansing products) which is why it compensates by producing too much oil.
How to use face serum?
Serum is applied before moisturizer once or twice a day, in the morning and the evening. Serums are usually lightweight which make them easy to layer and ideal to be worn under makeup. Only a few drops is enough, as serums have a high concentration of active ingredients. Some serums can be applied using specific applying techniques but more information on these are mentioned in the packaging of the product.
Serums can also be used periodically, for example during times when skin is facing more strain than usual and is in need of extra care. Wintertime or going through a sickness are examples of these situations.
