Herbal teas can brewed from different parts of the herbs
Herbal tea is made of herbs or spices by brewing the herbs in hot water. The name of herbal tea is a bit misleading since it is not actually made of tea leaves of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) like traditional tea (green, white, black, red or oolong). Herbal teas can be enjoyed for their taste or for their desired effect. Herbal teas don’t usually contain caffeine.
Herbal tea is made by brewing either fresh or dried plants. Herbal tea can be made of flowers, buds, leaves, seeds or the skin of the plant. Hot water is poured on the herbs and brewed for several minutes. After this the tea is sieved and served. Another way to prepare herbal tea is to boil the herbs in water for a few minutes, then brew them for a few minutes after which the herbs are sieved. Herbal teas can be enjoyed hot or cold.
Herbal teas can be bought as ready-made mixes or you can collect the herbs yourself from nature. If you collect the herbs by yourself, remember to check the correct usage and dosage of the herb.
