Fazer – over 100 years of sweetness

Fazer – over 100 years of sweetness
Fazer is an iconic Finnish confectionery brand founded by Karl Fazer over 100 years ago. Karl Fazer had studied in the finest confectionery shops in Europe and opened his first cafe in the heart of Helsinki in 1891. After gaining success, Fazer opened more cafes and expanded his business into the production of sweets. The first Fazer sweets from 1895, Pihlajanmarja (=rowanberry) marmalades, are still sold today and have become a true classic. During the following decades, Fazer further expanded their production of confectioneries, biscuits and breads as well as opened more cafes and eventually lunch restaurants. Today Fazer is one of the most highly valued and respected brands in Finland.

The iconic Moomin confectioneries

The iconic Moomin confectioneries
The Finnish confectionery brand Fazer makes confectioneries with the beloved Moomin characters created by the author and illustrator Tove Jansson. Jansson began cooperation with Fazer by designing and illustrating their ads and product packages in the 1930s. The first Moomin-themed Fazer confectioneries were begun to be sold in 1957 in Finland. By that time the Moomin characters had already become popular. Today the Moomin product family includes biscuits, chewing gums, pastilles and a wide range of sweets such as liquorices, lollipops and fruit sweets. The most popular Moomin products by Fazer are the small and crunchy Moomin biscuits.
