What is butyrate?

Butyrate is a short-chain fatty acid and a metabolic product of bacteria. The bacteria in the large intestine produce butyrate from fibre and resistant starch, a carbohydrate that digestive enzymes cannot break down and which acts in a similar way to water-soluble fibre.

Calcium butyrate acts as a short-chain fatty acid that is naturally formed as a result of the activity of intestinal bacteria. Microencapsulated ButiShield™ ensures the release of the active ingredient in the right place.

Usage

2 capsules per day for adults.
